Salary: 57,100 annually
Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time: 30 hours per week
Employment conditions: Candidate must be flexible to work any assigned shift as the work demands including morning, day, Evening, Weekends, holidays.
Start date: Starts as soon as possible

Education: Completion of a related college program of minimum of three years is required.
Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of related experience.
Must provide Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) record check, and child abuse registry check.

This role requires close collaboration with a supervising speech-language pathologist (SLP). The candidate must be respectful of all team members, and able to take direction. Compassion and Empathy: A supportive, patient, and empathetic attitude is crucial, as clients and their families may be experiencing frustration or difficulty with communication disorders. Patience and Persistence: Progress in speech therapy can be gradual, so the assistant needs persistence and the ability to motivate and reassure clients through challenging treatments. Adaptability and Flexibility: The ability to tailor approaches to meet the varied and individual needs of diverse clients (different cultural backgrounds, ages, abilities) is key. Professionalism and Ethical Conduct: This includes maintaining client confidentiality, professional boundaries, integrity, and ethical conduct in all interactions. Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Assistants need to observe clients' responses to treatment and use judgment to respond to ethical issues or adapt activities as needed within the SLP's plan. Creativity: Creative thinking helps in developing engaging and imaginative therapy activities and materials.
Job duties and Responsibilities
You are required to work with clients of all ages to improve communication skills.
· Assist speech-language pathologists during assessment of patients/clients.
· Carry out therapy plans developed by the speech-language pathologist and document results.
· Work with clients in their homes or daycare settings.
· Provide engaging and effective speech-language support.
· Maintain accurate session notes and progress reports.
· Create and organize materials for use in therapy sessions and for the use of the patient/client’s, home programs and classrooms, under the supervision of speech-language pathologists.
· Document patient/client progress.
· Clean and maintain equipment, prepare, maintain equipment, supplies and Order and purchase equipment.
· Confer with other health professionals
· Prepare and maintain cleanliness.
· Participate in team meetings and support family education.
· Any other duties as required.
