Summary of the Housekeeping Supervisor Responsibilities
Reporting to the Housekeeping Manager, our Housekeeping Supervisor role is essential to creating an exceptional guest experience and ensuring that our hotel maintains a welcoming, clean, and comfortable environment.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Supervision
Complete any cleaning/room assignments for the day, as needed.
Take direction from the housekeeping Manager.
Supervise and oversee the day-to-day performance of the housekeeping team.
The supervisor is expected to remain on the ‘floor’ for the duration of their shift (when not cleaning or completing an Audit) to supervise the pace of the day and also ensure the cleanliness of each team members cleaning.
Maintain supportive and constructive professional relationships with each team member.
Provide professional and friendly service to guests
Address guest concerns quickly, notifying proper departments as need be.
The supervisor will work to complete all daily inspections. During inspections, small touch ups may be required for the supervisor to complete.
The supervisor will need confidence and good communication skills to return housekeepers to rooms where items have been missed.
Train and guide housekeeping staff, including housekeepers and housemen. The training material will be provided by the housekeeping manager, for the Supervisor to work through with each team member.
The supervisor may conduct group training sessions in the morning meetings, with the Housekeeping Supervisor.
Conduct room cleaning audits and provide feedback to Housekeeping Manager. The Housekeeping manager will provide weekly feedback to team members based on these audits.
The Supervisor is to ensure effective communication within the team to ensure all guest requests and operations are completed to the best of the housekeeping team’s ability.
Follow company policies and procedures
Operational Management:
Prepare and distribute daily room assignment sheets and keys to room attendants.
Conduct daily room inspections to ensure cleanliness and quality standards are met.
Assist in cleaning rooms when necessary and during staff shortages.
Conduct inventory checks and ensure sufficient supplies are available on guest floors. Report inventory numbers to Housekeeping Manager.
Report needs of inventory and supplies to the Supervisor or Manager.
Present any order requests to the Housekeeping Manager to approve and process. All orders must be made through the Housekeeping Manager.
Assist in ensuring housekeeping rooms are kept in an orderly fashion.
Assist housekeeping team in any manner required on busy days.
Attend to in house guest requests
Report when linens are running low to the Housekeeping Manager.
Report necessary maintenance items
Will help the Housekeeping Manager coordinate in suite projects, as required.
Will execute deep cleans for all suites when/where required
Quality Assurance:
Inspect guest rooms, corridors, stairwells, elevators, and linen closets to maintain high cleanliness standards.
Address guest issues professionally and promptly, ensuring guest satisfaction.
Review daily arrivals to ensure proper handling of VIPs, return guests, and early arrivals.
Ensure new staff members are trained by Room Inspectors or Housekeeping Management only
Ensure that new staff members are given consistent training and support in order to succeed in the housekeeping department
Ensure all staff follow and are trained in safety within department
General Cleaning duties (as needed):
Clean and sanitize all areas of guest rooms, including kitchens, bathrooms, living spaces, and more.
Perform various tasks like making beds, dusting, vacuuming, and mopping to keep rooms fresh and tidy.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness in both guest rooms and public areas.
Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and provide excellent service.
Work collaboratively with the team and other departments to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
Report any maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate departments.
Handles all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism.
Respond to all guests’ requests in an accurate and timely manner.
Maintain the privacy of all guests by enduring that no details of the guest are disclosed.
Ensure productivity, and quality of work standards are maintained throughout work.
Administrative Duties:
Complete daily room audits and provide weekly feedback to the Housekeeping manager.
After new hire orientation with the Housekeeping Manager, the Supervisor will conduct the training for new hires. The training material will be provided by and updated by the Housekeeping Manager.
Monitor and follow up on the completion of training for both new and current team members.
Ensuring all important information is passed along to all relevant staff.
Employees may be required to perform other related duties as needed to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Perform tasks and projects as assigned by hotel management & such other projects requested from time to time by the Company.
Demonstrate a complete understanding of the hotel’s policies, procedures and service standards and have full knowledge of the hotel facilities and remain current and up to date on projects & operations taking place in/around the building.

Requirements:
Experience Requirements
1 to less than 2 years of housekeeping supervisory experience.
No Educational Requirements
Other requirements:
Excellent communication and organizational skills; fluency in English, both written and verbal.
High reliability and availability, especially on weekends and holidays.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
Commitment to providing excellent service and exceeding guests’ expectations.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Position requires flexibility in shifts and schedule and weekend work required.
Extensive physical activity and lifting on a daily basis to complete position requirements as above.
Must be physically capable of performing the physical requirements of the position, including twisting, turning, bending, lifting and standing for extended periods.
Training will be provided.
Job Type: Full-time, permanent, 40 hours per week
Starting Wage is $23.38/hour and increases to $27.50/hour after 6-months of full-time work or 900 hours of work, whichever is greater, as per the collective agreement.
