SPECIFIC SKILLS
· Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join lumber and wood products using both hand tools and power equipment to construct frameworks and structural components. This includes precision measuring, cutting angles, and shaping materials to exact specifications to ensure stability and durability in residential homes and commercial buildings.
· Construct and install building foundations, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems by following project specifications and building codes. This includes preparing and leveling surfaces, assembling floor joists, securing wall studs, and framing roof trusses to provide the essential structural framework of buildings.
· The carpenter ensures smooth operation, tight fittings, and high-quality craftsmanship to enhance both the safety and aesthetic value of the completed structures.
· Maintain, repair, and renovate existing wooden structures and fixtures by diagnosing structural issues, removing damaged components, and replacing them with newly fabricated materials.
· The carpenter ensures full understanding of the design and collaborates with supervisors and other trades to maintain accuracy throughout the building process.
· Prepare layouts and project plans using measuring tools such as squares, levels, and measuring tapes, marking cutting lines and reference points on materials. The carpenter ensures that all assemblies are aligned, balanced, and constructed according to design and building code requirements.
· Adhere to workplace safety protocols and building regulations by ensuring proper handling of tools and materials, securing work areas, and maintaining compliance with provincial and municipal safety standards.
· Collaborate with team members, apprentices, and labourers to coordinate workflow, share carpentry knowledge, and ensure projects are completed within deadlines and to client expectations.

Education and Experience Requirements
High School completion
2 to 3 years of experience working in the relevant field/industry is required
