Job title: Cybersecurity specialist (NOC 21220)
Wage: $48.05 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor, detect, and respond to real-time security threats, breaches, and anomalies across all systems.
Implement, maintain, and regularly update VPNs, firewalls, encryption protocols, antivirus tools, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits to identify and close security gaps.
Ensure the security of employee, client, and vendor data, including financial and banking information, credit card data, and confidential communication.
Design and enforce policies and protocols that comply with PIPEDA, GDPR, ISO/IEC 27001, and other data protection regulations.
Manage security awareness training programs to educate employees on phishing prevention, secure data handling, and responsible use of company resources.
Review and analyze security logs and reports; investigate and respond to any suspicious activity or data incidents.
Ensure all VPN configurations on employee devices are secure and properly managed.
Protect sensitive information related to vendor contracts, client agreements, and third-party access.
Participate in risk assessments, compliance checks, and audits to ensure comprehensive data protection controls are in place.
Stay informed about current and emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies affecting information security and privacy.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks like NIST, ISO 27001, and SOC 2.
Experience with VPNs, SIEM tools, endpoint security, encryption, and incident response.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to clearly communicate security issues and solutions.
