The Chemainus Community Schools’ Association (CCSA) is an incorporated not-for-profit society, governed by a volunteer board composed of community members and school personnel. We provide programs, services, resources, and support for community members of all ages, with or without children, in our school system. Our service area ranges from Saltair, including Chemainus and Crofton, Thetis and Penelakut, to Westholme; however, everyone is welcome to participate in CCSA activities.
We work with three public schools in the North Zone of the Cowichan Valley School District: Chemainus Elementary Community School, Crofton Elementary Community School, and Chemainus Secondary School. Although we have our own society, the CCSA is closely affiliated with School District 79, as are all community schools with their districts.
Our staff work closely with the school district staff, teaching staff, principals, and custodians at our three schools to ensure that we are meeting the needs of the school community as well as the community at large. Chemainus Community Schools Association , located at 3172 Garner Street, Chemainus, BC,V0R 1K2 , is looking for Two Full time Permanent Early childhood educator (ECE) assistants for their above location.

You will be performing following duties:
Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
Supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants.
Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
Storytelling
Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest.
Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records.
Encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity.
Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts.
Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits.
Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor.
Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings.
Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children.
