Position Summary
Reporting to the Controller you are responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This covers the maintenance of a sufficient system of accounting records and generation of periodic financial reports. You will be responsible for assisting in the development of budgets and controls intended to enhance the precision of reported financial outcomes, mitigate control risks, and ensure that reported results comply with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), with a primary responsibility for Fairmont Hot Springs Sewer and Utilities. You will provide support in all aspects of financial administration, such as budget and forecast preparation, corporate accounting, internal control policies and procedures, and regulatory financial reporting.

Salary: 65,000 annually (less all deductions required by law, paid bi-weekly) / 30 hours per week
Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time.

Employment conditions: must be available to work in any shift. Ability to work hours to accommodate fluctuating business needs which can include some late evenings, early mornings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities and duties:
Primary responsibility for the financial accuracy of FHSR Sewer and FHSR Utilities, specifically revenue and accounts receivable.
Oversee and manage customer care of FHSR Sewer and FHSR Utilities.
Assist in the timely and accurate recording of all transactions.
Ensure that financial plans align with organizational goals.
Processing, recording and analyzing financial transactions.
Identify, research and resolve financial discrepancies.
Provide financial analysis, as required.
Ensure financial transactions comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
Provide support and backup for other Finance Team positions.
Work with other departments to ensure records are accurate and complete.
Assist with financial reporting requirements, internal and external.
Ensure confidentiality and security of financial information.
Attend meetings, as required.
Administer accounting systems.
Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements.
Supervise, and train junior staff or arrange training for staff.
Ensure accuracy and compliance to accounting standards, procedures and internal control.
Prepare financial information for individuals, departments or companies
Recommend improvements to accounting systems and management practices.
Develop and maintain cost findings, reporting and internal control procedure.
Assist Controller in preparing income tax returns from accounting records
Review and examine financial record to ensure compliance with governing legislation and regulation.
Assist in the planning and execution of financial statement audits
Oversee payroll administration.
Other duties, as assigned.
Experience and specialization
Computer and technology knowledge: significant knowledge of MS Office, MS Excel, Knowledge of Great Plains accounting software and related tools is considered an asset.
