As our business continues to grow, we are seeking a skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team and support our commitment to excellence.
Job Duties
Supervise and coordinate the activities of the cooks, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
Assist the Executive Chef in planning, preparing and executing daily menus in accordance with the restaurant’s culinary standards.
Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty Indian dishes
Demonstrate new cooking techniques to kitchen staff
Participate in menu planning, costing, and ordering of food and supplies
Ensure food quality, portion control, and presentation standards
Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment
Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace health standards
Train staff in food preparation, cooking, and handling
Manage waste reduction and ensure efficient use of ingredients to control food costs.
Oversee kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef
Job Requirements
Completion of secondary school an advantage
Diploma or Apprenticeship in Culinary Arts, or several years of experience specializing in Indian cuisine
2-3 years of commercial cooking experience, including supervisory responsibilities
Cook’s trade certification or equivalent training and experience
Red Seal endorsement is an asset
Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation
Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
