We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our talented Kitchen team at Sparkling Hill Resort. As a key member of the kitchen, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to ensure the smooth operation and delivery of high-quality food. This position offers an exciting opportunity to grow your culinary career while contributing to a premier resort experience. Sous Chef may need to work in any one of restaurants within our resort.

Salary: 57,000$ to 60,000$ per annum less all deductions required by law, paid bi-weekly, depending on service and experience. / 30 hours per week

Overview
Languages: English
Education: Secondary (high) school. This requirement can be waived with several years of experience in culinary field.
Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in a commercial kitchen with some culinary supervisory experience in high-volume, upscale hotel or restaurant.
Credentials: Safe Food Handling certificate
On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
Responsibilities and Tasks
· Maintain high standards of food preparation, safety, and presentation in collaboration with the Executive Chef.
· Supervise kitchen staff and participate in the production and plating of food to ensure excellent quality.
· Ensure proper storage and labeling of food to maximize freshness and minimize waste.
· Contribute to menu development, recipe creation, and suggestions to ensure consistency and top-quality culinary experience for our valued guests.
· Help create and implement departmental goals and ensure they are met.
· Support the Executive Chef with ordering and inventory management for an efficiently run kitchen.
· In their absence of Executive Chef, uphold their values and leadership style.
· Coach and guide kitchen staff to improve workflow, reduce workload, and meet deadlines while fostering a positive working environment.
· Maintain a safe work environment by following health and safety protocols, completing incident reports, and addressing maintenance requests.
· Manage inventory and food ordering to maintain adequate supplies, reducing waste while ensuring guest satisfaction.
· Ensure timely completion of administrative tasks.
· Coordinate with the Event Manager for seamless banquet, function, and catering operations.
· Monitor food deliveries to ensure compliance with storage and health regulations.
· Assist head chef in Recruiting and hiring of staff.
· Perform other duties of junior staff in peak hours such as;
o Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff and Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food.
o Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets and Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
o Clean and ensure the cleanliness in work areas.
· Any other duties as per business requirements.
Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Tight deadlines, Handling heavy loads, physically demanding, Attention to detail, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Standing for extended periods, Bending, crouching, kneeling, Strong background in fine dining, and line cooking is required. Knowledge of food handling, sanitation standards, and kitchen equipment maintenance is required.
