Job Description
Star Eagle Drywall Ltd. is seeking two skilled and dependable Drywall Tapers to join our team in Surrey, British Columbia. The ideal candidates will have hands-on experience in drywall installation, taping, plastering, and finishing. We are looking for motivated individuals who can deliver quality workmanship, follow project specifications, and work efficiently in a construction environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Review construction blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements.
- Prepare walls, ceilings, and other surfaces for drywall installation and finishing.
- Measure, trim, position, and install drywall panels according to project specifications.
- Apply plaster and joint compounds evenly to achieve smooth and consistent finishes.
- Seal drywall joints and repair cracks, holes, and nail marks using appropriate finishing tools.
- Remove excess joint compound, smooth treated areas, and allow sufficient drying time between coats.
- Prepare and blend plaster materials to obtain the required texture and consistency.
- Ensure newly plastered surfaces are properly cured to maintain finishing quality.
- Install metal or gypsum lath on framing supports and furring systems as required.
- Assemble suspended metal ceiling frameworks and fit acoustic or decorative ceiling panels.
- Plan and mark wall and ceiling layouts to support accurate installation.
- Calculate material quantities and assist in preparing project cost estimates.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
- A minimum of 3 years and less than 5 years of relevant work experience is required.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Good understanding of drywall finishing techniques, construction materials, and related tools.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Must be comfortable performing duties at heights.
- Ability to handle physically demanding construction tasks.
- Must be capable of working efficiently under pressure and meeting project deadlines.
- Work must be performed at the designated job site; remote work is not available.
