Main Duties
• Plan and direct daily food preparation and cooking activities in the kitchen.
• Prepare and cook a variety of specialty pizzas, sauces, appetizers, pasta, salads, Indian dishes, vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, and other menu items.
• Prepare pizza dough, sauces, toppings, marinades and other ingredients according to recipes and established food-quality standards.
• Develop, test and introduce new recipes, specialty dishes and food preparations.
• Plan menus and ensure food quality, taste, portion sizes and presentation meet established standards.
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks, kitchen staff and other food preparation workers.
• Instruct cooks in the preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food.
• Demonstrate new cooking techniques and the proper use of cooking equipment to kitchen staff.
• Train staff in food preparation, cooking, food handling, sanitation and kitchen procedures.
• Monitor food preparation and cooking to ensure consistency, quality and timely completion of orders.
• Prepare and cook food for regular restaurant service, special orders and special functions.
• Prepare and modify dishes for customers with food allergies, intolerances or specific dietary requirements.
• Requisition food, ingredients, kitchen supplies and equipment required for daily kitchen operations.
• Monitor inventory, food usage and portion control and assist in controlling food waste and kitchen operating costs.
• Maintain proper food storage, food handling, sanitation and food-safety procedures.
• Lead and instruct kitchen staff to maintain an organized, efficient and productive kitchen operation.
