We are looking for an experienced Baker for Poplar Grove Winery, located at 425 Middle Bench Road North, Penticton, BC V2A 8S5, Canada.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare doughs, batters, fillings, icings and frostings for breads, rolls, pies, muffins, cookies, cakes and other baked goods in accordance with standardized recipes and production requirements.
Measure, mix, knead, shape, proof and bake products with close attention to ingredient ratios, fermentation, oven temperatures and baking times to achieve consistent texture, flavour and appearance.
Produce and finish a varied selection of breads, pastries, desserts and specialty items for restaurant service, winery events, seasonal menus and special customer orders.
Decorate cakes, pastries and plated baked products using appropriate icing, glazing, piping and finishing techniques while maintaining presentation standards.
Plan daily and weekly baking schedules based on service forecasts, event requirements, advance orders and available production capacity.
Assess the quality, freshness and consistency of ingredients and finished products, making appropriate production adjustments to ensure established standards are met.
Estimate ingredient and supply requirements, requisition baking materials and equipment, and monitor stock rotation to support uninterrupted production and reduce waste.
Safely operate, clean and maintain commercial mixers, proofers, ovens, sheeters and other bakery equipment, reporting any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
Train and guide baking personnel and kitchen staff in preparation methods, recipe execution, portion control, food handling and safe equipment operation.
Inspect bakery, kitchen and food-service areas and maintain strict standards for sanitation, allergen controls, food storage, labelling and workplace safety.
Prerequisites:
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
Experience & Skills: 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant baking experience.
Language: English
Hourly Wage: $20.00 per hour for 30 to 40 hours per week
Starting Date: As soon as possible
Terms of Employment: Full-time and permanent

Work Setting: Winery restaurant and hospitality operation
